Finding a decent betting site outside of GamStop is not always straightforward. There are hundreds of offshore operators out there, and the gap between the good ones and the dodgy ones can be enormous. That is exactly why we put every site through the same detailed review process before it earns a spot on our list.

We test, compare and rate each platform using a consistent set of standards – no shortcuts, no favouritism. Here is how it all works.

Review Weighting System

To keep our reviews consistent, each category carries a specific weighting in the final score. The coloured indicators below show how much influence each factor has when calculating the overall rating.

🔴 Licensing and Regulation

This is where every review starts, and rightly so. A valid licence means the operator has to follow proper rules around player protection, fair play and financial accountability. In our view, it is the bare minimum for any betting site worth recommending.

We check each site’s licence directly against the issuing authority’s public register. If the details do not stack up, the site does not make the cut. The platforms we recommend hold licences from recognised bodies such as the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) or the Curacao Gaming Control Board (GCB), among others.

🟠 Security and Player Protection

Once licensing checks out, we look at how the site keeps your personal and financial information safe. We expect to see SSL encryption, secure payment processing, firewalls and, where applicable, two-factor authentication.

Beyond the technical side, we also look at data handling policies – how your information is stored, who has access to it and whether the operator takes GDPR compliance seriously.

🔵 Betting Markets and Platform Quality

A strong non-GamStop betting site should give you plenty to work with. We look at the breadth of sports covered, the depth of markets within each sport and whether the in-play offering holds up during live events. Competitive odds matter too – there is no point having a huge range of markets if the prices are consistently poor.

For sites that also run a casino section, we check for a solid mix of content from reputable providers such as Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Evolution and Play’n GO. That typically means slots with clearly displayed RTP rates, RNG table games, live dealer options and a handful of speciality titles like crash games or instant wins.

🟡 Bonuses and Promotions

A generous welcome offer means very little if the terms are buried in conditions designed to trip you up. We go through the fine print on every promotion, paying close attention to wagering requirements, minimum deposits, game contribution rates and withdrawal caps.

The sites that earn our approval are the ones offering promotions that are genuinely achievable and clearly explained. If a bonus looks good on the surface but falls apart once you read the terms, we will say so.

🟢 Deposits and Withdrawals

Fast, hassle-free payments are non-negotiable. We look at the range of deposit methods on offer, minimum and maximum limits, processing times for withdrawals and whether there are any hidden fees lurking in the background.

Sites that process withdrawals on the same day or within a few hours score highest with us. We also give credit to operators that handle account verification quickly, as that tends to prevent payment hold-ups further down the line.

🟣 Mobile Experience

Most punters place at least some of their bets on a phone or tablet, so the mobile experience needs to be up to scratch. We test every site across devices, checking for fast load times, clean navigation, stable connections during live betting and a layout that does not feel like an afterthought.

Where a dedicated app is available, we test that too – making sure it delivers the same functionality and security as the main desktop site.

⚫ Customer Support

You can learn a lot about an operator by how they handle things when something goes wrong. We contact customer support ourselves to test response times, the quality of the answers and the overall professionalism of the team.

We expect live chat as a minimum, ideally available around the clock or at least during extended hours. A well-written FAQ section that actually addresses the questions players tend to ask is a bonus. We also check whether the site is upfront about its ownership details, contact information and responsible gambling commitments – that kind of transparency goes a long way.

⚪Reputation and Player Feedback

No review is complete without a look at what other players are saying. We check forums, social media and independent review sites for patterns – good and bad. If an operator has a history of unresolved complaints, slow payouts or misleading promotions, it will not be making our list regardless of how polished the site looks.

How We Score

Each betting site receives a rating out of 10 across all of the categories above. Those scores are averaged to produce the final rating you see on our site. We revisit and update ratings regularly to reflect any meaningful changes, whether that is a new promotion, improved features or a shift in regulatory status.

The aim is simple: to give you the information you need to make a confident, informed decision before you sign up.
